Is Your Salvation Free?

Bible ReadingRomans 5:7-21
From
where I am sitting, I envision that there are quite a number of alarms
going off right now. Hey, relax friend.
At first thought, your answer may be “Oh
Yes my salvation is free
”.
So what’s the problem you may
ask…
Do you know I have a problem
with the sentence “Salvation is free”
You wonder why…
The word ‘Free’ gives us the
sense that we can always get it
anywhere? yes,
anyplace? sure,
anytime?
 of course

but anyhow? Not quite right.

Because
there are conditions that need to be met (see Romans 10:8-10)1

Like in the stores, we find some items given
away at reduced price.
And in the same vein, we handle such free items with
less value and unconsciously think because we got it for free then it doesn’t
matter much.
Even if those products may, to the contrary, be worth so much.
But
God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ
died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be
saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled
to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved
by His life.
Romans 5:8-10
Do you get it?
Salvation is not free! It is to be highly esteemed
because it is a from God.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it
is the gift of God

It may be contrary to your regular thoughts,
The Salvation Jesus
gave us came at a very costly price.
A price we can’t
pay.
The value for which
cannot be measured.
A
price paid in full with the holy Blood of Jesus.
Now I ask you again,
“Is the salvation of your soul free?”
When we begin to see ourselves as privileged to partake of this Grace,
then we value the worth of…
Not
just any blood,
Not the blood of goats or any animal kind,
But, with the Blood of Jesus.
As we draw closer to Easter, I want you to take on
this perspective that Jesus paid an ultimate price for you…It is not free but
it has been paid for in full.
This way we handle the grace showered upon us with tenderness, value and much
worth.
I don’t want to handle my life in Christ as free in
the literary sense but as a precious gift from the ONE who loves and cares for
me deeply.
I don’t want a casual word as “free” to depreciate
the value of the precious gift of salvation.
Maybe if we understand how powerful it is to have
this gift, we will be more compassionate, more tender-hearted, more loving,
more of every goodness the Lord wants from us.
PrayerLord, I am grateful for the high price you paid for my salvation.
I am grateful for every ounce of grace you have showered upon my life. I don’t
take it for granted rather Lord, I hold on to your precious gift of salvation
in obedience to your will in Jesus Name
.

By His Great Grace,

  • This is amazing, Ifeoma! I love this beautiful reminder that Salvation was not free. Thank you for sharing with Thankful Thursdays.

  • Hey Ifeoma,
Thank you for the reminder of the high cost of our salvation. It truly is not something to be taken lightly. Wishing you a blessed week!

  • Again, a great reminder! Thanks for sharing.

  • This so true – we were bought at a very high price – and we need to remember that even as we accept the gift of salvation and grace

  • Thanks for this great reminder!

  • Our salvation is absolutely free to us. It is absolutely expensive to God. It cost the life of His very son. It's all about God's redemptive story of adoption into His family and bringing glory to His name!

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast."

  • I have never thought salvation was free. So, it's hard to say how much I would value it if I thought that. But I am grateful for the price for my salvation and try to honor and glorify Him every day.

  • Always love reading your blog. For me I want my heart to be prepared every day. Visiting to day from the Christian Bloggers Reciprocation Group.

  • I am SO thankful for the gift of salvation!

  • Such an important thought to think about all year long but especially during the Easter season. Our salvation was bought with a price and I am grateful for that gift! Thanks for sharing!

  • The link is not opening for me, so I have yet to read the post. Salvation is not free because someone (Jesus) had to die for our sins.

  • Great great thoughts and reminder to prepare our hearts for Easter. You are so right–we were bought at a very high price, and we should cherish the gift!
