Advent Day 11: The Way of Holiness

“This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 1:18

She was so young. The betrothal was well known in her village—it was the way of life, and the expected path to take.

But her heart bowed to Someone greater than just the traditions.

When the Holy One sets before you HIS way of living, how could you refuse?

She was so young. But she chose the way of Holiness, and said “yes” when the Angel Gabriel spoke Yahweh’s words to her.

The coming of Messiah would be a miracle, and she would live in the very middle of it all.

When the Holy One sets before me HIS way of living, will I choose to walk in HIS miracles?

Family Activity: Visit the Homeless shelter near you or choose other community service center and volunteer to do some random service.

Prayer: Lord may my heart be humbled before your Holy presence. Teach me to walk before you Holy and blameless in Jesus name.

  • Beautiful! Love this —>When the Holy One sets before me HIS way of living, will I choose to walk in HIS miracles?
It makes me wonder when I respond to God’s call with a “yes”, will I follow through??

Love these thoughts Bettie. Mary chose to believe and obey no matter what other people might thing of her when she became pregnant. May God help me to have that kind of trust and obedience.

    Blessings!

    • Thank you Gayl! I am so blessed at the way that the Lord is weaving Ifeoma’s words and my words together in this series! What a blessed and humbling thought to realize how Mary willingly faced rejection from her friends and family! I echo your thoughts, and want God to help me with that kind of trust and obedience also. Blessings to you, dear friend!

  • Dear Ifeoma,
Again, my heart echoes your beautiful prayer: “Lord may my heart be humbled before your Holy presence.” Hugs & Love!
