5 Reasons You Should Have Praying Friends

I was overwhelmed by all the heartfelt messages from this community of loving women who expressed their love through messages and prayers in response to the article, “Encouragement for When your Hope is Fiercely Shaken”. Read it >>HERE<<

Every tears shed, every goodwill thoughts, prayers and messages, the Lord heard!

Thank all for the prayers and messages you reached deep to touch my heart. If the Lord permit I would be sharing all about the testimony in the nearest future.

Sisters, friends and fellow labourers in God’s Kingdom from all over the world, your prayers was felt tremendously.

I tell you friends, God’s Mercies prevails even in very hard times. Where I was seated, something bounced up in me….the courage to fight on, keep holding
on, and keep pressing on!

At this point, I see more reasons to have praying friends around me and to be a praying friend myself.

Why do you need praying friends?
There are life battles we just can’t fight alone. There are life’s battle that require chasing the thousands or even millions.  (Ecclesiastes 4:9)

You prevail when you pray in agreement with other faith-filled believers. When we pray with faith in the midst of battle, God hears us.
This last few days I have learnt that a miracle can happen even with the little child who says a simple prayer. (Matthew 18:19)
To find support in weakness. No matter how strong we are there are days when we become overwhelmed by difficulties– weak days that could shake your faith. (Proverbs 27:17)

Heads Up on Impending danger. Yes, the Lord reveals secrets…remember Apostle Paul’s friends who warned him of the persecutions awaiting him in Jerusalem. (Acts 21: 4, 10-12

Loneliness is depressing. A classical friendship I love so much is that between
Naomi and Ruth. I presume if Ruth left Naomi in her misery, Naomi would
probably end up wretched and abandoned. But that young woman’s decision to hold her hand in the darkest time of Naomi’s life was the miracle Naomi had!

Life’s journey is easier when you don’t walk alone.
Gal, you and I need praying friends in our lives.
You never know the day the storm would blow hard, the winds would become treacherous or the day you would be in need of shelter.

Yes, I know you can pray alone but take a closer look at the scriptures below…how many life battles can you really fight alone?
heh?
And five of you shall chase an hundred, and an
hundred of you shall put ten thousand
to flight: and your enemies shall fall
before you by the sword.
 Leviticus 26:8

and

How
could one man chase a thousand,
or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?
Deuteronomy 32:30
NIV
Aha!

Now you see my point!

It is time to ask the Lord to bring praying friends into your life as you also make that decision to pray for others other than you and yours.

  • […] 5. Keep Godly Friends: The Bible encourages us to continue in fellowship with one another Hebrews 10:25. Sweet friend… you have a gift of encouraging from the very start of your words here and I love that. I am always blessed when I visit and I am sure you are praying for each and everyone who stops by. We do need praying women in our life… to lift up and to hold up and to keep us closer to His heart. Great words of wisdom! Thanks for sharing them at the #GraceMoments link up!
    Blessings,

  • Amen Ifemoa! I would still be wandering in my Christian life if not for the prayers of those close to me. We need to seek out those prayer partners to walk side by side with on our journey. I love the scriptures you share here as well. I hope you have a wonderful weekend and my God bless you in all your endeavors!

  • Very inspiring. Praying friends are very encouraging and help us through difficult times. Thanks for sharing at Mom-to-Mom Mondays.

  • I'm so grateful for praying friends! So many times they have encouraged and fought beside me. It has been my honor to stand in the gap for many friends through prayer. God blesses us greatly through the gift of friendship!

  • I love this, Ifeoma, because I need praying friends. Friends who are real and will pray for me and my family when they say they will. Have a wonderful weekend, my friend. Thanks for linking up at Thankful Thursdays.

  • Ifeoma, I so agree with you! I have had a faithful praying friend and prayer warrior since 1999. We meet at least once a week, sometimes twice, for lunch and share our lives and have prayer. It is such a comfort to have a praying friend. Many blessings to you!

  • A friend who prays for you is the BEST kind to have! I've been blessed with a few and Hope I am a blessing to them as well. Thank you for this reminder. #livefreethursday

  • How true it is! We need those true blue all the way through friends who will pray us through! Thank you for this wonderful encouragement to value those relationships.

  • Praise the Lord for praying friends! Doesn't it feel wonderful to know someone is praying for you when you're facing a challenge? This is true for adults and youth, as well. Friends who encourage, lift up, and pray for one another make a difference in our lives. Blessings!

  • We were not meant to walk alone. I am thankful to hear God met you in your difficult time. Blessings!

  • Such a great post! It's a blessing to have praying friends…they mean more to me then they know! Thank you for your wisdom!

  • I am a member of a few prayer teams and it has made a significant difference in my life knowing that they are covering me and my family in prayer just as I am doing the same for them.
    Thanks for sharing!

  • I don't have a lot of friends… let alone praying friends. I have been praying for an opportunity to get more in community with fellow believers.

Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop).

    Wishing you a lovely weekend.
    xoxo

  • We know it in our hearts — this need for fellow followers. Now you've shared the scriptural basis for it. Thanks, Ifeoma, for wise words.

  • Great post! It is so important that we have people who pray for us and support us. Much better than trying to do it alone!

  • I totally agree with you Ifeoma. The importance of having godly friends who pray cannot be overemphasized. It is important to pray for our friends as well as pray with our friends (we do this online, over the phone and when we get to meet). The Christian life maybe a personal thing, but its not something we 'go alone'. We need to draw strength and encouragement from others.
This topic always reminds me of Jesus' prayer for His disciples, Paul's prayer for the various churches He ministered to, Jonathan's friendship with David.. And I'm challenged to do more..

Thank you Sis for this beautiful reminder.
    God bless your heart.

  • Ifeoma, I have always been amazed at how praying with friends brings such strength and courage and comfort. I am not sure if I would have made it through life without the prayer support needed at various times in my life.

  • Praying friends are a blessing, indeed. I can't count the many times I have been encouraged and challenged to keep in going because of praying friends!

  • We totally need praying friends, I've had so many people praying for me over the past week with the dramas I had having our 2nd baby. I'm not sure I would still be here otherwise!

  • Praying you through this uncertain time, lifting you up along with my sisters from all over the world!

And sending a hug or two, too …

  • We really do need to journey together. Even in the Bible you see how Jesus always sent the disciples out two by two. Then God says a chord of two is not easily broken. Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer and with words of encouragement. Hugs, dear friend!

  • There is nothing that knits hearts together like joining together in prayer. and yes, there are many battles that cannot be fought alone… and the joyful news, is that God never intended us to do that either! Thanks for the post!

  • I so agree with you on every point, Ifeoma. I feel incredibly blessed to have praying friends in real life as well as praying friends online. And may I always return the favor and pray for others as well. Thank you for this today!
