Unlocking the Year With The Power of The Word.

Why won’t the clock wait for me?

It can’t stop ticking. My daughter kept staring at the clock and wishing it could wait for just a while.

For once I felt that way.

I wish it could wait a bit just before we stepped into the New Year.

Maybe I was hoping for a grand entrance into the year.

Or perhaps a chance to unlock the secrets the year holds and the strategy to engage.

Who am I kidding? heh?

We both know that it doesn’t stop ticking.

Our quest for a format, an easy do-this-step, principles, drives us to set goals, get binders and journals and diaries, watch endless videos in which many at their best are not helpful.

Hold your thoughts a while!

I am like you, friend. I am a planner, a goal setter, time conscious …most of all I want to have a great year.

Do you know the best way to unlock the year?

Did I hear you say planning?

Planning is good stuff, ok? But doing everything with God’s backing is the best thing.

Having God lead you and following all the way would make for the great you desire. I won’t have it any other way.

The Word propels you to where God wants you.

The Word of God gets you ready, keeps you in the pace and takes you to the place.

The ‘How’, the ‘When’, the ‘Where’, the ‘Whom’, for this year is written. Only the Lord knows it.

As I flipped the Bible, my eyes caught hold of Proverbs 4:20-22.

My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.                               Proverbs 4:20-22

To unlock the fullness of the year, we need to thrive in the Word.

You want to enjoy the fullness and richness of life, find the Word.

I mean life in every sense of it peace, joy, laughter, goodness, blessings, grace, mercy…whatever your life needs right now to be whole.

You want health in every sense physical, mental, spiritual …keep the Word in your heart.

The Word, in your ears, in your eyes, in your heart, will give you life and health.

More than ever, I plan to put the Word in my life first. Let God’s Word find first priority in your life this year.

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus.

No distractions, no noise, no tugs here and there, Just Jesus.

The year holds so much for you.

How do I know this?

It is written …

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13

Did you read the passage?

We find God when we search with all of our heart.

Fix your heart on the Word.

Find Him. Thirst For Him.

Pay attention to what He tells you.

Let Word wrap everything in you.

Let everything in you be about the Word.

Prayer For Unlocking The New Year

Dear Father, thank you for bring me and my family into this beautiful year. Sweet Jesus, help me to delight in your Word. Give me the grace to listen for your voice, to keep your Word in my heart and to fix my eyes on you in Jesus name. May I find your Word as I seek you wholeheartedly in Jesus name. Amen

Such great reminder on focusing on the one that really matters. Abide in the word and you are sure to thrive in this year and any other year.

  • Visiting from SITSgirls. Keeping a positive Word, in thought and speech is what I’ve been praying and meditating on as well. It’s the cornerstone of happiness.

  • Thanks for linking up this encouragement at #ThreeWordWednesday.

  • Amen! Such a great reminder.

These words are golden truth. Thank you for your scriptures included too. I will add those to my journal. I love your thoughts here. I totally agree with your perspective on how we have to include Him in our lives daily and intentionally. Love, Jenn #15 FMF

  • Dear Ifeoma, I have loved your focus on the Word of God so much, as I’ve read your book and your postings this past year. I am also focusing my heart on HIS Word as He’s spoken the word STILLNESS to me from Psalm 46:10. I love this thought of yours: “The Word, in your ears, in your eyes, in your heart, will give you life and health.” God is so good to bring us His Life and Health! Blessings to you!

  • Love your prayer here!! I’m seeking to focus on prayer and meditating on God’s Word this year. This week I’ve studied Philippians 4:6-7, and hope that I’ll keep in mind over the coming months that I can take every thing to God in prayer, then trust Him for His peace in all situations.

Hope you have a great 2017!

  • Your post reminds me of a book title by Anne Graham Lotz: “Just Give Me Jesus.”
We have so many distractions and even good things that get in the way of the very best thing of all.

  • So happy to be your neighbor at Thought Provoking Thursday. I so appreciate the rich encouragement I found here!

  • Wonderful post, Ifeoma. This here is such a good word> “No distractions, no noise, no tugs here and there, Just Jesus.” I have now heard the reminder – no distractions – in several posts I have read the last few days. I think we are called to be focused on Jesus in greater measure than ever before. Blessings!

  • Happy New Year Friend! I found myself smiling through this and agreeing… repeatedly. Putting His Word first..yes! That is the answer. Your encouragement is a iron-sharpening-iron gift, Ifeoma. So blessed by you.
    Blessings!

  • This is something I’ve been trying to tell myself to do and failing at so often. I need to cut out the selfishness and push out the other gods of my heart and make more room for the one true God!

Thanks from your friend at #w2wwordfilledwednesday

  • Yes to focusing on the Word before we make our plans and set our goals for the year. The Word does propel us to where God wants us. This was a great read to focus myself as I was just sitting here working on some personal goals. Happy New Year!

  • Oh my friend, what an excellent, excellent post!!

I LOVE how you took Proverbs 4:20-22 and mined all the rich treasure out of it!! What an awesome insight you have shared that the key to a great year is being in the Word! You have shown us God’s promise right there!! I can’t believe this has never jumped out at me before when I’ve read this verse.

Thank you so very much for sharing this extremely edifying post!!

  • So true- if we are focussing on God and his Word, he will guide us and the rest will fall into place. Best wishes for 2017!

  • I like your emphasis on keeping the Word before our eyes, ears, and in our mouth. The word of God is life changing. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story. Love your new site. Aunt Hazel

  • Love this. No distractions, no noise, no tugs here and there, Just Jesus. That’s my focus this year. Just Jesus.
Stopping by from Inspire Me Monday

  • Hi, found you from the mondays musings link up.

I love this, thanks for a great post! That is so true… the Word is where healing happens… where restoration happens… where hope is found… where God can be met with in a powerful way.
    God bless! ~ Angela
