The greatest gifts for your kids this season

The greatest gifts for your kids this season

Have you been in thoughts concerning the gifts for
this year?
I have too and friend sometimes it is tiring just looking at the beautiful
toys and gift items on display.
I wish I could get all those items for
everyone especially my kids at the orphange home.
Well, it is not about the gift right?
It is about the
heart and intentions of every gift that we hand out.
But thinking more deeply, I ask myself- what is the
greatest gift we can give our kids is?
What is the greatest gift you can give your children?
Think about it for a minute or two…
The greatest gift at this time has to be something memorable
The gift have got to last a life time?
It has to maintain its relevance
The gift should remind our kids of us
The greatest gift should be something they too can
give their children
Can you think of anything?
Some family traditions maintain items, like memorabilia,
within the family that are handed over from one generation to the next.
My granddad gave me my very first Bible. While I was
younger, I questioned his reasoning. I wondered how a book could be of so much
value. I would have chosen education or something more substantial.
‘Why grandfather?’
His answer was

“the Bible is the best gift anyone
could ever

give his children because in it is everything
you will ever need in
life
But as I grew older I realise grandfather’s answer
is just as true and as wise as it was then.
I learnt in a simple way that the greatest gift to
hand over to our children is the gift of the Bible.
In the Bible is everything my children will ever
need to make it through this dark world.
Whether in my presence or absence I know God’s
Word will preserve them and lead them.
The Bible in our hands is The Greatest Gift we can give our children
God in the lives of our children is the greatest
legacy we can leave behind.
The Word of God is the absolute guarantee that our
kids will be safe after we are gone.
If we choose education, in it is no salvation.
If we choose real estate and structures, it is not
risk free.
If we choose possessions, it is not without depreciation of value
The Word of God is priceless, ever new, forever
valuable, unchanging, risk free, without side effects… I could go on and on.
Let us choose the greatest gift for our kids.

Why does your gift matter in this season?
At this time in the world, the Truth has become unpopular and the love of God is gone cold.
This is a period when the truth is scarce and men are not willing to stand for it.
As the world is winding down, evil is pressing hard.
The ONLY hope for our children in this generation is God’s Word.
Every thing else will fail…
Only The Word will remain.. Amen
By His Great Grace,
Ifeoma Samuel

  • I love this post, Ifeoma! And I do agree. The Bible is a wonderful gift. Thanks so much for sharing this post. Blessings to you and yours!

    • Yes, yes and yes. The only lasting gift and I love Michele's qualifier – teach them to read it daily. Young minds absorb it all so quickly.

  • Very true! Having a Bible to read is so important for them, as well as seeing us live out the Word in our lives. This is especially critical around Christmas because there is so much focus on stuff that doesn't relate to Christ.

  • We've given our daughter a Bible of some sort ("My First," Board book, Beginner's Bible, etc) every year, so far. It's the most important book, so it only makes sense to give it as a special gift!

  • As a children, we may not appreciate God's word as the greatest gift, because we desire fun things or frilly silly things – – but as we grow older we begin to realize how important God's word is to us. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story. God is good all the time and His word is everlasting.

  • It is such a challenge to give meaningful and ethical gifts.. the Bible is definitely a good option 🙂

  • Hi Ifeoma! Your post is so timely as we just gave our grandson my husband's childhood Bible for his baptism this past Saturday. We've given family Bibles to each of the kids as they are baptized … and brand new Bibles during elementary school at some point.

There's no better gift than God's Word …

  • What a great legacy your grandfather left to his family. I agree with him completely and thanks for the timely reminder. It's never about the stuff, it's about how we share our lives with one another recognizing the best things in this life can't be bought or paid for.

  • Putting the Word of God in their hands is certainly a lasting gift — and then we need to give our kids the gift of a solid habit of reading the Bible each day — first of all by our example. Then by our teaching and giving incentives to show that this is something we value.

  • i used to give beautiful paintings as gifts to my all friends .
you are very right that word of God is most precious thing to give as gift
    loved your place dear

  • Yes, this is so true, Ifeoma! We have enjoyed buying first Bibles for our Grandchildren. Even just a Bible Picture Book when they are so young is a beautiful gift. We have some new little ones this year, so maybe it's time to remember a Bible for them also. Thanks for the reminder! –Blessings!

  • I can hardly even accept the fact that it is time to start holiday shopping …but it is time! I love this pull to not just buy, buy, buy –but to give a gift that means something! So good! (Our girlie is wanting a Bible, too!)

  • My daughter fills out wish lists on Amazon for her and the family and last year one item was a Bible for a young girl that I ordered. My granddaughter loves it and reads it every night!

  • Yes! What a perfect gift for all kids. I was going to say Jesus because when we have Him we have everything. Good to see you friend.

  • My oldest daughter actually asked for a new Bible. I can't wait for her to open it on Christmas morning! Wonderful post, #RaRa sister!
