For the Woman Who Feels Overwhelmed and Outnumbered

By now most of
us have written our yearly goals. But one of the places we suffer defeat in our
resolutions and yearly goals is the when we feel overwhelmed and outnumbered
them. It is a trap we ought to avoid.
Our
goals and expectations should not be a source of frustration.
Your
desires for the year should not be a joy-killer.
I
understand that life feels overwhelming especially when things don’t turn out
the way we had planned. Like the Syrian army marshaled out against Elisha and
his servant, that same way we feel completely surrounded by circumstances
trying to drown us.
Bible Reading:  2 Kings 6: 9-16 (click to read online)
The
reality is we may not be confronted by a physical army like Elisha but in every
way we are faced by to-do lists and goals, life challenges, unexpected events
etc.

But Elisha’s servant couldn’t process how Elisha was so at ease despite
the dire situation. That worried him.

Honestly,
I would too!
Keeping calm in the midst
of hassling situation takes trusting the capability of WHO is with
you.

Of
course, the servant could only see his old master and him. So how were they
going to get past this army surrounding them?
But
his master saw what He didn’t see.
Gasp!
What are you Not Seeing
about your situation?

  • Lovely post! Many times I feel overwhelmed, but it sure helps to remember God's faithfulness! Thanks for sharing! Visiting you from the Make Your Home Sing link up. Blessings!

  • Taking the time to know what are priorities should be will help us to not feel as overwhelmed especially if we say no to the things that are not a priority!

As I mentioned on the Faith n' Friends post, I love that you reminded us of the verse in 2 Kings, and the powerful way the Lord reveals that we are surrounded on all sides and He is always working on our behalf.

Thank you for being such an encourager, Ifeoma!
    Blessings,
    Dawn

  • I left a comment on the other site. Thank you for sharing with Thankful Thursdays, Ifeoma.

  • It's so easy to overwhelm ourselves in this modern era in which we live. With so many conveniences, it's easy to take on more, more, more. Decades ago and beyond, women were too busy doing the basics of homemaking to take on more. If they did, the family wouldn't be fed or given clean clothes. Just washing those clothes was an all day task. No extra items on the to-do list for those ladies! God has given us these conveniences, but we need to be careful what we do with the extra time. We think what we take on it important. Maybe it's time we reevaluate? Thanks for this post.

    • Very insightful addition, Terry.
      Thanks for adding this.
      God bless

  • I hit the "february blahs' every year in homeschooling. It's after the holidays and too far from the end of the year to get excited about finishing up. I get tired, discouraged and often disappointed about missed goals, bad attitudes and laziness. I really have to cast a new vision for myself to help me push through, reminding myself of the reasons we homeschool in the first place. I think we have to get in the Word of God and do the same sort of thing when we feel down and discouraged. Like Peter, we need to look at our faith and encourage ourselves knowing that He alone "has the words of eternal life." thanks!

    • Awesome! Thanks for sharing your testimony.
      Blessings to you

  • I often feel outnumbered with my kids. I need to realign my thinking and vision and see the power of God that surrounds us. Beautiful reminder. Thank you for sharing with us at Sitting Among Friends on Wednesdays, friend. Have a great week.

  • Thank you for this reminder… I think we ALL need it every so often! #livefreeThursday

  • I have been considering my goals for the year lately. I'm not exactly overwhelemed (yet), but I can see it headed in that Direction. I have been praying for the Lord's guidance. It is so wonderful to know that He is there đŸ™‚

  • My husband tells me to not overload, because he knows I can tire easily, but God gives me opportunity to bless, and I must obey the Holy spirit. Fortunately no one is hassling me yet.) Always remember Greater is He that is in YOU, than he that is in the world. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story.
