An Invitation For A Seeker

Bible Readings: Matthew 6:30-33, Deuteronomy 4:24-31

Are you a Seeker?

What and Who are you seeking?

We are all seekers but the difference is in ‘the who’ and ‘the what’ we are seeking.

When we want something we look for it.

Seekers hotly pursue.

Quick Questions:

Have you longed hard for something and after you get it you struggle to find satisfaction in it?

Or have you desired a possession, only to find out it didn’t please you as much as you thought?

Have you invested in a highly priced stuff only to find that the expected value promised was not met?

Many of us would identify with at least one of the many scenes described above.

We all desire good things even unbelievers do the same.

The difference is we have a priority order.

Our God comes first….

When we seek Him first, He will add all those good things we desire to us.

Do you know God also seeks for us?

Study Psalm 14:2, John 4:23

The Lord seeks for those who would worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

The Lord will seek out His sheep. Amen (Ezekiel 34:11-12)

He wants us to truthfully come to Him. Not just for what we want or merely with our lips. He wants us to draw near with our hearts.

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Isaiah 29:13

Hold on:

Did you say does the enemy seek us too?

Yes the enemy does but with the mission to destroy us.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter5:8

Do you want to find the Lord?

Make it your One Thing. This was David’s One desire. To continually seek the presence of God. (Psalm 27:8)

To be there in His presence.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. Psalm 27:4

Ponder: What is the one thing that you seek after?

Seek Him and Seek Him early. (Psalm 63:1, Isaiah 26:9)

Be desperate for Him. Long hard for God’s presence over your life.

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. Proverbs 8:17

Seek Him now that you have that choice within your grasp. (Ecclesiates 12:1, Isaiah 55:6)

It is good we remember Him now we are young at heart and are able to give our best.

Seek Him with your whole heart. (Jeremiah 39:13)

You find the Lord when your heart is in it.

Seek Him even when you have missed your way.

Have you side stepped?

Do you think the Lord has no place for you?

Friend, if you turn around and seek Him with all your heart and soul, you will find Him.

But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him,

if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

Also we find that the Lord calls us back to the way of repentance.

When we turn around from the path we are headed and seek Him, He will forgive us and heal our land.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I am grateful the Lord allows us to draw nearer to Him (James 4:8).

What Happens when we seek the Lord?

Those that seek the Lord shall not lack anything good. (Psalm 34:10)

Did you hear that? All the good things you desire will be in abundance in your life when you seek Him.

Those that seek Him rejoice. (Psalm 40:16) Remember, in His presence there is fullness of joy, that joy never ceases from your own life. Friends, I desire that joy in my life forever.

Those that seek Him are blessed. (Psalm 119:2) Blessings are there with Him.

The Lord is good to those that seek Him. (Lamentations 3:25). Do you want to see God’s goodness? Seek Him!

Those that seek the Lord shall live (Amos 5:4)

The Lord rewards those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6)

How Do you seek the Lord?

Read Daniel 9:3….Write out the verse.

It says through Prayers, Supplications, Fasting

Also read Zechariah 8:21

When You draw near to Him, He will draw near to you (James 4:8).
