5 Ways To Find Joy In Your Marriage Today

Our couple photo hangs on the wall. It was our pre-wedding photo to be precise. Obi and I love that photo.

Sometimes, I bring down that photo frame get on my knees and just pray.

Aside the memories that flood my heart, do you know what else I see?

Hang there a while, I’d share with you in a bit.

Life has changed since the pre-wedding photo shoot.  I have changed, my lines of thinking constantly challenged, adjusting and expanding.

Whoever said marriage is a school was right. Might I add that, Marriage is an advanced school.

While I have lots to learn, it breaks my heart every time I meet couples struggling to find joy that once was in their marriage. Today seems right for me to share simple ways you can find joy in your marriage today.

Five Ways To Find Joy In Your Marriage.

We are far from perfect. Do you sense an unquenchable need to drive a life of perfection? Whether through your spouses or your own life or your kids, you need to stop!

You have shortcomings! Your husband does! Everyone has them.

You need to accept your shortcomings too. We all need to take on God’s Perfection for our imperfect lives

Learn to give grace to your shortcomings and to those of others as well. Believe me it takes some hard work. I have been there too.

But you will find joy instead of faults, comparison, complains and nags.

Marriage is work! I remember as a young unmarried woman I would spend time day dreaming of my perfect wedding. I thought of all the details. Every time someone asked about my dream wedding, I was quick to describe the picture in my head.

I know I am not the only one who did. Right?

Forget it, I don’t know how to plan events or decorate stuff but the shiny studs and lights at weddings wow me. Bring on the cakes and glasses, sister!

Have we spent more time preparing for grand weddings and receptions instead of marriage?

What’s on your mind?

Yup!

Truth is life happens; Illness, rough patches, work life, travels, kids, in laws, ups downs, hormones and everything in between. As we go through all of these phases, it is easy to lose joy as we go through life. We forget we are part of the same team.

The work is keep reaching for each other. We find joy is when we keep doing life together. Remember Psalm 126:5

Biblical Concept of Love and Submission Is Not Old School: Our society has changed and keeps changing. No matter how many times we move the lines, the truth remains. Scripture cannot be broken!

Let your man lead. Follow your hubby with true love and genuine patience.

War room Prayers for Your Marriage: The enemy constantly wages war against marriages. It is deceitful to believe that marriage is a walk through the park.

Yes your union will be tested.

Your commitment will be tempted.

Sometimes, you will feel like giving up.

But Joy comes from the Lord. He is our Joy giver.

There are voids even your spouse cannot fill. Only God can fill up emptiness.

Spiritual growth is important in every marriage. Spend time praying for each other and together. 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Choose Gratitude: Now, I will tell you what I see every time I look up our photo frame. I see Gratitude!

I am grateful for every moment, days, curves and life.

As you go hand-in-hand journeying through life, the unexpected, joyful, challenging, come before the cross not only to renew your marital commitment but to ask for His grace to be faithful to the end.

  • Nice ways to find joy in a marriage. Thanks for writing such a good post and tips for wedding couples.

  • Dear Ifeoma, oh yes, I agree with you here: “Have we spent more time preparing for grand weddings and receptions instead of marriage?” We focus on all of the “stuff” instead of on the relationship. And we so often don’t invest in bringing our marriage relationship to Jesus first of all! This course sounds so good! Thank you for offering it here. I will pray that the Lord will send it out to those He wants to bless with it! Hugs!!

  • I love seeing what God is doing and has done in your life!
