When Your Little is More Than Enough

When Your Little is More Than Enough

My Sunday school kids were preparing for a presentation at
church. My plate was full, I wasn’t making Sunday services. My studies had
taken another turn; more work load, more deadlines, more demands apart from
family obligations.

There were lots of ideas rolling in but implementing is another
kettle of fish.
“Lord,
I feel, I am not doing enough. I wish I had time to do more for my kids.”
My strained time was taking a toll on parents support, too. I
was inadequately prepared for the presentation.
To my surprise, the kids don’t see it this way.
They were working hard on their memory verses and somehow my
absence initiated a drive to impress me with their recitations when they got
the chance.

I am proud of my Sunday school kids – not only did they do well,
they taught me a lesson.

Many times we wonder
if what we have is good enough or if we can actually measure up.

The feeling of being
inadequate may deter us from actually pursuing our God- given dreams.
God-given dreams?

Do
you give in to thoughts like  “you are not gifted enough for His use ?

  • Found your inspiring words through the blog link up! I am now following and can't wait to read more… you are so right… I've often felt "I'm not good (gifted) enough to be of enough use…" I love (and needed) your encouragement today!

  • We do fret when our plate is full, but then God shuffles the deck and deals us a winning hand. (smile.) Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story.

    • Thank you Aunt Hazel.

  • We are often our own worse critics. God is the one who will reach their hearts, and He will put you in their path when He needs you there.

    • Thanks Marissa for sharing your thoughts here.
      God Bless

  • This is such a timely post. Although I'm very successful at work and my blog is taking off sometimes I wonder if I measure up. Yet God is so good to remind me even through this post that His grace is sufficient for me.

Legalism says we must do. At the cross Jesus said done! It's so important to rest in these truths.

    • I am glad reading your thoughts Jonathan.
Thank you for adding your voice.
      Blessings to you

  • Hi thanks for being a great supporter of Literacy Musing Mondays. 🙂

  • I was a children's pastor for 20 years and I so understand what's you're talking about. There were times I thought I was failing and yet unexpected results came about. Have you read Max Lucado's "Small Things in God's Hands?" I cannot read it without tears because it stresses this very point. We give our small and God makes it into large.

    • I am yet to read this book. But thanks for recommending it, Pamela.

      Blessings to you

  • What an encouraging thought! I'm amazed at the strength God gives to do through me what needs to be done in my Sunday school class, with my son, with my blog and house, etc.

  • Such an encouraging post. I guess we have all had moments when we didn't feel good enough to be used by God. Thanks for the reminder that God can take what we consider inadequate or nothing and turn it into more than enough.

  • Ifeoma, I have been there so many times. God always amazes me in that he continues to take what little I feel I can do/say and multiple it. What an awesome God we serve!

  • SO often I feel that what I have to give is not enough, but I have been blessed to see God multiply it enough over the years to realize the power in just plain not giving up!

    • That's true, God multiplies our little.
      Thank you Carol.

  • I only have enough because He gives it to me. I boast in my weakness so that I may show His strength.

  • Hey Ifeoma,

Yes, I can relate. There are many days I feel overwhelmed, and wish I was able to give more. Thank you for sharing this, as it makes my journey feel more normal. I also discovered that often, the small amount that I am able to give, ends up being an enormous encouragement to others. My guess is that you are impacting people in greater ways than you know. Your comments and words of encouragement have certainly been a blessing to me. Wishing you a blessed and grace filled week!

  • That feeling of being overwhelmed is one of the hardest things about balancing ministry and family. Thanks be to God that He is able to give us wisdom for this hard balancing act.

    • His grace is sufficient for us. Thank God.
      Blessings to you Michele

  • Somedays it feels like there isn't much to give…and that is ok. God uses what we have…it's all his anywyas.:)

    • Hmmh, I hear you Brianna.
      God Bless

  • You're right, God can use even the little that we've got to give, but sometimes we also need to be sure our priorities show that we've got Him #1 instead of other worldly things.

  • I do give into those thoughts, and I need to stop. I surely hope that I can follow my God given dreams. Thanks for the inspiration and safe travels!

    • Thank you Heather.
I am grateful you found some inspiration here.
      God Bless

  • I have often felt this way as well, and am always surprised and blessed when things turn out alright in the end! Thank you for your encouragement!
    Cathy
