Devotional Insight: What are the two powerful weapons to replace Anger and Anxiety right now with Peace?
How To Replace Anger with Peace
Sometimes we have to fight the powerful weakness we have to lay hold on peace. Instead of resulting in Anger, Paul and Silas prayed and sang. You mean these men began a fellowship in the prison?
Journal Prompt
How can you be joyful in this situation?
How could Paul and Silas have the never to rejoice in the dark dungeons with chains around their feet?
The Apostle prayed and sang while behind bars.
Is there a kingdom principle here?
Joy – rejoicing no matter what. Can we choose joy in seemingly helpless and uncontrollable situations ?
To choose joy is seeing what God is doing and what He’s done already. To choose joy every day is focusing on the goodness of God above all else.
To find joy, mean we know the promises and confront that anxiety and anger with it.
Today I encourage you not to let the present fails or falls steal your heavenly joy.
Two Weapons Against Anger In The Midst of Difficulty
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
Do a word Study on the scripture above. Notice how God’s Peace can be ushered into our lives. It is the Peace of God that keeps your hearts and mind in times of troubles.
Prayer and Petition
Paul and Silas Prayed. Are you praying strategic prayers?
How can you use prayers to replace that anger with Peace?
a) Identify the troubling triggers to your anger. We have worked extensively on Anger Triggers in previous studies. Now, take time to uncover the real source of your anger even if you have to discuss it over with a matured believer. James 5:16
b) Draw out scriptures that address the triggers you highlighted. Some scriptures may speak loudly in addressing your triggers. Pen them down.
If you are yet to, I recommend you grab a copy of the Prayer Tool with journalling space and relevant workbook.
c) Pray the scriptures. Use the key scriptures you have identified in your study and pray them.

Petition – is making a case before God. Consider an appeal using facts. A petition is pleading on a specific matter.
Journal Prompt
Have you considered intentional petition prayer on your anger issues?
Does it really bother you hurting others or overacting because you are angry?
If you really want to make a change, here is a good place to start. Discuss your feelings with God. David in the Psalms used this form of prayer a lot to share his feeling and thoughts with God.
Having discussed about prayer, it should be noted that strategic prayers help shoot at the target of concern.

2. Thanksgiving
If only we appreciate the power of thanksgiving in difficult times. Immediately, miracles began to happen in the prison as they sang. The whole place was fillied with the glory of God setting loose their chains and opening the doors.
Instead of anger, switch to praise and thanksgiving right now. Get out your hymns and begin to fill the atmosphere with the sweet presence of the Lord. Unbeknownst to us, there are miracles delivered to us and those around when we live praise-full lives.
Can thanksgiving help overcome anger?
Sometimes we stay angry for too long and never realize how the situation may just turn out for our good. Other times we are too angry with someone and we forget how they had blessed us in time past.
Some anger may be justified in terms of harm done to us. We recall the harm vividly and it quickly turns into an idol that manipulates our feelings and actions so much so that we fail too see how God had faithfully kept us even in the lion’s den.
If we see things from perspective of praise, gratitude in unpleasant situations, it will help us not only trust God but we will see God move in an unusual way like Paul and Silas.
Journal Prompt
Is there something to be grateful for?
Could there be a thanksgiving in this “provoking state”?
What specific blessings in the situation are you grateful for?
If you want to quickly replace that anger and anxiety, switch to thanksgiving. Tone up your mood with gratitude and see how those chains of anger, heaviness and burden break.
Another beautiful way to be thankful is keeping track of testimonies.
