Help For the Woman Who Feels Entangled

But I see another law in my members,
warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law
of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me
from the body of this death?

Romans 7:23- 24
I watched the helpless fly try desperately to free
itself from the spider’s web. As it flapped its wings, it unknowingly got more entangled.
The more the fly tried to rescue itself the worse the situation became.
Not only did the sticky strings rope it round, the
movement around the web caught the attention of the spider. The little spider
spun more and more around the fly, relentless in the keeping her prey.
So sad, huh?

As I watched this scene unfold, I slipped into thoughts. Thinking of how sometimes life gets all messy and slushy!

Liken the web to sin, pain, failures, sicknesses,
bondage, worldliness etc. we sometimes fall into this destructive web.

And like the fly we find ourselves stuck in a place.
Not only do we begin to struggle, we fight hard to free ourselves, we try to
hold all pieces of our lives together

The more we try to unglue ourselves, we make a
pretty good mess of it because the enemy keeps us bound, held back and
imprisoned.
When
we think we can rescue ourselves, we become more entangled by this bondage.
Bottom-line: You are helpless and can’t rescue yourself, only Jesus can.

Just maybe if the fly had kept its focus, it wont have fallen into this trap. We will never know. The trap of sin and its bondage lies all around us but if if keep our focus on Jesus we will escape. The enemy throws its fiery darts but in Jesus we are guarded and we overcome.

Read Ephesians 6

As the fly struggled to breathe, it caught the
attention of the wrong entity, the enemy itself.
When
you leave God out of your life battles, you attract the wrong crowd.
Are you entangled by sin?

And like the little fly, are you struggling to break free from the bondage and chains?

Like Apostle Paul yearned, “who shall deliver me
from this body of death?” Romans 7:24
Allow me introduce to The Master Disentangler, His
name is Jesus.
The only way to disentangle is through Jesus. He
alone can set us free from the web the enemy has spun around us.
Friend, Jesus is here for you.

He is here to set you free from the sticky and stagnating stench
of sin.

He is here to set you free from the yoke of sin and addiction.
Does He know what I am going through?

Does Jesus know my constant struggle with addiction and sin?

Oh Yes, yes, yes!!
The Lord knows who you are and what your life is
like now. He is calling on to you. Come and lay down at His feet and surrender
all to Him.

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
1 Peter 5:7
Remember the fly, if we can stop trying to fix
this or that and ask for His help, that’s when our deliverance begins.
He is working out something even though the enemy
plans to shove us into a corner and keeps us locked in, The Lord of Hosts is
our great and Mighty Deliverer.

The name of the LORD is
a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
Proverbs 18:10
Come to Jesus friend, He is the truth that can set
you free. When He works on your life, His freedom is sure. Don’t let sin or the
cares of this world rob you of your freedom in Christ.
Here are more scriptures
to encourage your heart.
John  8:32  And ye shall know the truth, and the truth
shall make you free.
John  8:36  If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye
shall be free indeed.
Galatians 5:1  Stand
fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not
entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
There is great and mighty power in the name of Jesus.
In the name of Jesus chains and yokes are broken. In the name of Jesus every
strong hold over your life is destroyed. Amen!

  • Hello, You hit the nail on the head today. I am struggling with a Shopping Addiction that I have not yet told my Family about. However, I did join Debtors Anonymous today and this is a start. I wept as I read because you were telling me the Truth. I did pray the prayer at the end. Thank You so much for posting this. I found you from Suze who I found from Julie Sunne. I have joined with my personal email not my blog email. I am wanting to Relaunch my Blog but my health has gotten in the way as well as the Mess of a Mess I just created.

  • When we trust fully ourselves in solving our problem, we really tend to stay on the same situation, that's right from you and i totally agree to that. Even though were born again already, we still tend to miss this one and we still keep on doing things on our own!

such a reminder to everyone that God exists, and the very reason He's there is because He fights our battle and removes our bondage!

  • Thank you so much for the encouragement! We really can be strong through Jesus!

  • Only Jesus free us. And when He does–what joy! Sometimes we need to remember the sticky web from which we came.

  • Great analogy and word picture. Jesus is the untangler of all kinds of sticky webs. He says, "Without me you can do nothing." Jn. 15:5

  • Trying to clean up our own messes…yes, that often just makes the messes worse. Thanks for reminding us that we need Jesus–before, after, and during all the messes we make on our own. He's the ultimate One to clean everything up!

    Ifeoma,

Your comment prompt actually made me think of a round of conversations that I kinda felt entangled in… you know the ones that seem to go on forever and truth doesn't seem to fall on every ear and you wonder how you got there??? Yet, knowing Jesus… knowing His grace and love, it is the very thing we need to be able to have any conversation. Not only to hold them but to always bring everything right back to Him. 🙂

As always your words are encouraging!
    Blessings!

  • It's so true that we cannot rescue ourselves. I'm so thankful for our Redeemer. We are nothing without Him. His strength, love, and grace is sufficient to carry us even through the valleys of life.

  • This reminded me of when I let others hurt me. I become entangled in the hurt and the lies until I am the one suffering! Set it free and give it Jesus. Thank you for sharing on the Faith Filled Parenting LinkUp.

  • What a great reminder of how helpless we are without Jesus. Thanks so much for the reminder!

  • Hi Ifeoma,
It's so good to read your work again and be blessed!Goodness, I just finished listening to one of the songs on the new Bethel release called "Lion and the Lamb" and it speaks of exactly what you wrote here! "Every chain will break. As broken hearts declare His praise. For who can stop the Lord Almighty…For the sin of the world His blood breaks the chains!" Take a listen 🙂 I believe you will be blessed!
    Blessings and smiles,
    Lori

  • Thank you for this reminder that Jesus is the only one who can rescue us!! So true

  • I have found myself entangled in all sorts of stuff! The only ways that I've found freedom start with prayer and end with leaning on those who love me.

  • So very true, Ifeoma: "The only way to disentangle is through Jesus. He alone can set us free from the web the enemy has spun around us." And oh how often I let myself fall prey to this web. So thankful for the amazing grace and power of our Saviour!

As to your question: Yes, I have – it was a web of fear that held me captive for more than twenty years. But God's Power was much greater than that web's. He was waiting patiently for me to admit the truth of my trauma-induced suffering, confess my sinful dependence upon the love and approval of others and be met by His beautiful embracing love and grace (Isaiah 30: 18, AMP):

"Therefore the Lord waits [expectantly] and longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; Blessed (happy, fortunate) are all those who long for Him [since He will never fail them]."

  • Such a great metaphor for the mess that humanity deals with — and the more we struggle on our own, the more tangled we become. Thanks for your creative descriptions!

  • Hi Ifeoma! So, I love the word "entangled." It describes so much so well. And you've just added an even better word to my vocabulary: the master disentangler! Thank you : ) Blessings!

Hello! I just came across your blog and this message. I believe God made it so because it's just what I needed to read at this time. Thank you Sister In Christ. 🙂

  • Hello Ifeoma! I've been thinking a lot lately of the sin of unbelief and praying for a more believing heart. How wonderful to remember that He came to free us from all entanglement and sin! He always responds when we call, doesn't he?

Hi Ifeoma! Wow, what a vivid picture of the spider in my mind, and how hopeless it is to escape without the Lord. Only He can overcome our weaknesses, although of course, He needs our permission!
Yes, he knows what we are going through, and wants us to call out for help. What a beautiful, loving Savior He is!
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  • "The Master Disentangler"…

I like that! Yes, Jesus is our Redeemer and Deliverer! He is the one who leads us out of bondage into right relationship with the Father.

And I love the illustration of the fly caught in a spiderweb. Well done!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • The image of the fly struggling to get free from the spider's web and only getting more and more trapped is a powerful illustration of sin and the difficulty we get into when we try to deal with it for ourselves. I'm grateful that we can look to the "master disentangler" to free us.

  • In the garden of Eden, that fruit looked so delicious and what would only a tiny bite really matter. That is the way so many people get caught in sin and addiction. Just this once and no more they tell themselves. But like the fly they are caught and don't realize it at first. How much better to steer clear of temptation by stepping away and turning our back. But if caught in the web – call out to Jesus for He is the deliverer. Thanks for an intriguing message presented here.

  • The image of a spider's web is perfect for sharing the lesson you wanted us to learn today. I love these words… "The only way to disentangle is through Jesus. He alone can set us free from the web the enemy has spun around us." Jesus is the way out of the web and only He will truly set us free. Thank you for this today!

  • Wow! That is a great example of the snares of sin! One leads to another and it is so hard to get untangled! But, with Jesus it is possible. Loved the post! Thanks for sharing it!

  • Such a good example with the web. It looks so innocent, yet, it doesn't let go. Good reminder here today, Ifeoma. Hope you're doing well. ((hug))

  • Your words are soothing and also challenging. Thank you for your honesty and kind encouragement! Jesus IS the only way and His mercies are new every morning!

  • Well, friend … you've painted a clear picture of the way sin's tentacles ensnare and trap us. Praising Jesus this morning … for His love and sacrifice set us free!
