The Gift of Rest

The familiar whirlwind of morning: backpacks stuffed, breakfast sizzling, kids hustled to school, errands lined up, the business day looming, and chores that never seem to end.

Day after day, the same rhythm plays on. Parenting never pauses. To-do lists torn and tossed, scraps and messes waiting, birthdays to organise, events filling the calendar.

And then there are your own dreams, career ambitions, and hopes as a mom. All while fear and panic from the world’s headlines—terrorism, disasters, and daily dangers—loom over our everyday lives.

We are busy moms, always racing the clock. The world spins faster than we can grasp, never pausing for us. It feels like we’re forever chasing after life’s relentless pace.

Girl, isn’t this just pure, beautiful chaos?

How do we find rest when news, social media, family, health, kids, work, and home all clamour for our attention at once?

After a long night of praying and thanksgiving, I laid down as peace flooded my soul.

With every challenge, I realised worry solves nothing. It’s just a feeble attempt to control life on my own terms.

A weary soul longs for a safe haven.

The hungry have got to be filled.

The thirsty throat needs refreshing.

Sister, your soul is craving rest.

Have you discovered the Power of Praise and Thanksgiving in the midst of the storm?

Have you discovered rest in the middle of this swirling chaos?

The good news is, you can find peace even in the heart of the storm.

The world shouts its ideas, convincing us that speed equals success.

It lures our hearts into endless striving, exhausting our minds, draining our souls, and pulling us away from true peace and contentment.

The world says more is better.

It says faster is productive.

It says speed is progress.

But with God, rest, patience, and contentment become treasures worth more than gold.

Yet we rush, growing impatient in every line—at the bus stop, the restaurant, the hospital—anywhere we are asked to wait.

We’ve become restless, anxious, always competing, never content. Isn’t this a tangled state of mind?

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy,

and my burden is light.

Matthew 11:28-30

Friend, we have the power to choose rest for our souls.

Yes, REST.

When you choose rest, you begin to notice the quiet blessings hidden in stillness.

Rest welcomes peace into your soul.

Jesus knows the weight of our daily labour,

Jesus knows the weight of the burden you carry.

He longs to carry your burdens for you.

He wants to carry your yoke.

Whether or not you are in the eye of the storm, your heart needs Peace. Peace is the assurance that God is too faithful to fail. Philippians 4 is such a sweet reminder.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving

let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God,

which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds

through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4: 6-7

Rushing through life changes nothing. Worry and anxiety cost too much. I cannot imagine a life stripped of peace.

Sister, you have the Gift of Rest. Jesus has given you this beautiful invitation. No matter the health, family, financial, or marital pressures you face, Jesus calls you to come. Every weary soul is welcome to lay down the weight.

Wouldn’t it be easier to let someone else help carry this heavy burden?

Isn’t it a wonderful thing to come to Jesus?

By His Great Grace,

There is rest for the weary.
The burden is heavy. We drag along life’s burdens and own them like our mission. We exhaust ourselves, trying hard to fix problems day in and day out.
Frustration, anxiety, helplessness and worry lead us down the path of restlessness.
Then we wonder why we live hassled, harrassed and tensed lives.
Meanwhile, God has many love letters. He invites us to rest in His unfailing promises. He wants to usher peace and rest as we go through life and confront our daily struggles.
