1 Samuel Part 2: Samuel 6-10

Do you know why the hand of God was so heavy on the Philistines all the days of Samuel?
Because Samuel stood as a mighty intercessor
Pause and reflect on this:
Are you standing in the gap for your nation, church, family and friends?
Each time the Israelites triumphed, Samuel raised an altar in gratitude!
A closer look at the Bible reveals that those who truly met God always built altars to honour Him!
Today, our altar is wherever we choose to pray, meet with Jesus, and share our hearts. Any place can become holy ground.
Do you have a war room?
Do you have a place to meet with Jesus?
Do you linger in prayer? Heroes like Samuel found victory for life’s battles on their knees.
They settled issues with God and allowed Him to handle them.
The Lord is inviting you to rise up and meet Him in prayer.
More Questions to ponder:
What idols are in your heart? What is keeping you distracted from serving the Lord?
What other master rules your life? Is God in total control of your life, or do you hold back some of it for yourself?
Rise up, warrior, and put on your armour.
Step into battle through prayer.
Reflections From 1 Samuel 8
1-3 Samuel made the same mistake his mentor, Eli, did.
His children walked not in the way of the Lord. No corrective measures were taken; otherwise, the Bible would have mentioned them. Samuel failed to learn from his predecessor.
God did not mete out the same punishment, but do you wonder why?
Was it about the impact and his relationship with God?
The strange request came in from the people… they wanted a King to rule over them…
Samuel, as usual, went back to God. He was displeased. God told him, relax; it’s not about you; it’s me they don’t want! God said, ‘Protest solemnly. ’
In other words, go easy on them… tell them what it means to have a king over them.
In 1 Samuel 8:11-18, Samuel spells out a long list.
When people rule over you, they take all you have.
When people rule, they enslave you, your children, and all that belongs to you.
But when God reigns in your life, He gives you everything you need. Amen!
God never forces Himself on us. He gently shows and warns us of the dangers ahead when we choose wrongly.
Let this be our lesson: never let anyone take God’s place in your life. In church, family, or the world, let God truly guide you.
