Advent 3: Washed and Pure

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29

The manger scenes that we create are so clean and cute. The animals all stare so lovingly at the family gathered there. The lambs seem to bow next to the donkey and the cow. But that first Christmas was hardly clean and cute. It was a real setting, with real, dusty animals, bleating and lowing and pushing against each other.

And the baby who became God’s own lamb, faced our own real sins that were anything but cute and clean. He took up all of our messy lives and became the sacrifice for our washing.

What do I see when I look at the manger scenes set up during this Season?

Can I picture that baby becoming the true Lamb of God, sacrificed for me?

  • Praise Jesus for being willing to do what it took to make a way for the washing away of my many sins! Oh, I do love Him and thank Him for the sacrifice He made…all the way from the manger to the cross. Thank you for this beautiful thought today, sweet friend. God bless you and Ifeoma!

Bettie, I was thinking sort of along those lines recently, how the manger scenes look so cute with the animals looking sweetly on. But like you said it was far from clean and cute. It was probably smelly and dirty and noisy. But that’s how God chose to come. What a sacrifice He made so we could be made clean! Thanks so much for this reminder today.

Much love with blessings and hugs! xoxo

And thank you, Ifeoma for having this Advent series. 🙂 Blessing and love to you! xoxo

    • Dear Gayl, Yes, I love our manger scenes that we set out, and I always loved having the kids act out the story with them when they were young. But He went through so much for us, right from the very beginning, didn’t He? Thank you for your lovely comments today, my friend! Much love and Blessings to you today! xoxo
