With quiet curiosity, I traced her every movement from the corner of my eye as she gently nudged the door open, careful not to let her sense my watchful gaze.
She paused just a few steps from my bedside, her beautiful eyes meeting mine in a silent exchange.
Her tiny feet left gentle marks on the floor as she tiptoed closer, leaning in and tilting her head just enough to catch my gaze.
“What was she up to?”
Truthfully, I had no plans to spare her even a moment; my day was already racing ahead with demands.
Yet the softest touch from her tiny hand pulled my attention away from my laptop. I glanced down to find a little angel beaming up at me with the sweetest, widest smile. I was powerless to resist. My inner walls melted, and I found myself smiling back, unable to deny the urge to scoop her into my arms.
The miracle of a baby’s smile!

In her eyes, there was laughter, joy, and peace. Just like her, we offer our smiles, hoping that someone will return the gesture, that someone will do the same. The baby’s gentle persistence shattered my urge to ignore her advances.
In the same way, our persistence and steady presence in what we hope for can one day open doors for us if we just hold on and keep showing up. Sometimes, life refuses to smile back. There are moments when you long for the world’s attention, but receive only silence despite your best efforts. Still, we press on, even when life feels so heavy that it withholds its smile.
Your smile is a symbol of hope.
Your smile reflects your confidence in God.
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great
recompence of reward.
Hebrews 10:35
We keep believing that one day everything will fall into place just as it is meant to be.
You don’t give up, dear friend.
Keep smiling.
We don’t stop smiling just because others don’t return our courteous gesture.
We don’t give up our smiles despite the attitude we receive on the other end.
We hold in us the power to make that choice.
A choice of hope,
A confidence in a future,
A faith in tomorrow,
A trust in an unfailing God
All in the miracle of a smile.
No matter what comes your way, keep smiling. You need it, and so does someone else whose life you may touch. Just like the baby, your smile is both irresistible and contagious. It scatters sparks of hope like fireflies and casts a golden promise of the future, bright as sunlight.
Life refuses to smile back; you still carry the power within to keep your light shining.
The power that radiates from the One whose face shines ever so brightly upon His own.
