Trusting God Through Unbelief and Doubt

There have been days when the weight of the world pressed so heavily on me that I wondered if I could go on. In a world shaken by terror and shadowed by fear, it is no surprise that many ask, Is God still here? Is He still alive?

I have cried out in desperation too. Yet, somewhere deep within, a force stronger than my despair anchored me, keeping me from falling over the edge.

God held me back!

He gently steered me away from the path I was so sure was right for me.

Whether
we choose to believe God or not, He never changes.

He won’t stop being God because we aren’t sure whether we believe Him or not, or we choose to stop believing that God is.

There are times we wonder if the Lord hears us or if He is still there. We can’t help but ask if God really loves us.

Yes, there are days when holding on to belief feels like a struggle. I invite you to walk with me through this.

Belief is a choice only we can make. In truth, our entire journey as believers is shaped by what we choose to believe.

There is nothing that can come between God and us, not even death itself! So amid all the fears in whatever name it bears, it can’t pull us away from the love of Christ.

“Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”

Romans 8:35

The word “Believe” carries more power than we often realise. It is alive with action and possibility, drawing us ever closer to the hopes we hold in our hearts.

Let me rephrase.

The more we align our hearts with belief, the stronger our faith grows, and our expectations begin to take shape in reality.

Faith is the thread that weaves through every part of our lives.

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

Hebrews 10:38

When we lose faith or stop believing, we stop living. (Habakkuk 2:4).

A quiet part of us begins to wither when we stop trusting that the Lord will come through for us.

Come what may, our living is by faith, which comes through us believing that the Lord is.

Those that come to God must believe that He is“.

(Hebrews 11:6)

Let us make the choice to believe in the Lord.

We should choose to believe in the Lord; not in our past, or our possessions or our mistakes
or our failed dreams or in the enemy’s lies, but in the Lord Jesus because everything else will fall through
the cracks, but Him alone remains unchanged”.

5 Truths When Your Heart Struggles to Believe

1.  You live in a life of doubt; When you are in doubt, you cannot receive anything from the Lord.

“But let him ask in faith, nothing
wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind
and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the
Lord. A double-minded man is
unstable in all his ways.”

James 1:6-8

2.  You open yourself to the attacks of the enemy; Unbelief leaves you vulnerable to the enemy.

Above all, taking the shield of faith,
wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Ephesians 6:16

When we stop believing, we leave ourselves unguarded and exposed.

3.  You reject His Word: When God speaks His Word to our hearts, He needs us to believe. Our faith is all about believing His Word for our lives. And like Mary, let us say, “Be it unto me according to thy word”

“And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of
the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.”

Luke 1:38

4.   Unbelief opposes your expectation: Just as the father of the child cried out for help, He asked Jesus to help him in his struggle…. It is wisdom to lay it at His feet and ask the Lord for help in areas you struggle to believe.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst
believe, all things are possible
to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and
said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Mark 9:23-24

5.  We stagger at God’s Promise: We have to be fully persuaded that God would perform His promises for our lives.

He staggered not at the promise of God
through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully
persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Romans 4:20-21

What determines if we receive what we have asked the Lord is our faith, which comes from us believing in His Promises for us.

Have you found yourself losing faith?

Are you unsure if the Lord is still by your side?

I have walked that road too, and I am grateful to tell you that God will not leave nor forsake you. Whatever storms life sends your way will not overwhelm you, because you belong to God, not to the enemy.

Now is not the moment to let go of our faith or stop believing in God. Instead, this is the time to stand strong, no matter what the world brings. Close your eyes and, as that man said, let your whole heart whisper, “Lord, help my unbelief.” Feel free to say it as many times as you need.

Prayer: Lord, help my unbelief. I believe every word you have said concerning my life, family, finances, _________ in Jesus name. Thank you for the blessings you have showered on me. Amen.

If you have ever found yourself torn between answering the call and fear of the unknown, this is for you. If you have ever wondered about God’s Will and what your next step should be, this book will help!
