1 Samuel 1-5 (Study Summary)
Even the most spiritual people might not grasp your struggles. Sometimes, your heartfelt words may seem empty to others. Like Eli, people may misunderstand you, but God always understands your heart.
Hannah kept pressing forward, returning to Shiloh year after year. She never gave up on God or abandoned the place of worship. Let your challenges pull you closer to God, not push you away. In the end, God blessed Hannah with even more children!
Her songs of thanksgiving were truly beautiful, revealing the depths of her heart and the fullness of her joy. When we show gratitude for what we have, God multiplies our blessings.
Hannah’s longing for a child never stopped her from surrendering everything back to God. She reminds us of Abraham, who was ready to give up Isaac when tested.
Ponder on this: Can you want something so much and yet be willing to lose it?
We dishonour God when His gifts become barriers between Him and us. Eli put his sons before the Lord, and this choice cost his family their lasting covenant with God.
Take a close look at your life. What is holding you back from worshipping God with your whole heart?
Ponder on this: What is standing between you and God?
1 Samuel 3 introduces us to a passionate and diligent boy serving in the temple, yet the Bible says he did not truly know God or His Word.
Whoa!
You can serve in God’s Kingdom and not know Him. The word of God had not yet been revealed to Samuel.
Eli’s neglect sowed disaster. He failed to confront his sons’ wrongdoing and chose complacency over action.
Ponder on this: Are you serving God knowledgably?
Do you know the Lord?
How do you respond to God’s Word in your life?
Be mindful of who leads you spiritually. The young men, though sinful, still held leadership positions and carried the ark of God, which represents His presence. Light and darkness cannot coexist.
You cannot fill your life with dishonour and expect God to dwell within you.
Ponder on this: How do you possess your vessel?
Remove every garment of sin before stepping into His presence. Today, let us seek the Lord’s mercy together.
The sins of these young men would cost many lives. Never rush into battle without God, or it will end in tragedy.
Our God fights His own battles. Amen. The Philistines’ mistake was believing God could be compared to their powerless idols.
Dagon fell face down, bowing before the Lord Almighty. In the same way, every challenge you face will bow in Jesus’ name.

Prayers for the Women Desiring Fruitfulness
Maybe you have journeyed to your own Shiloh for years, your soul weary and ready to give up. I have felt this too, facing my own challenges. But I believe the same God who answered Hannah at Shiloh will answer us too, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Dear Jesus, we pray for every woman looking up to you for babies, or maybe someone we know. Lord Jesus, let there be a divine remembrance. Just like you did for Hannah, let wombs be opened in Jesus name. To you be all the glory!
Prayers for Husbands añd future husbands
1 Samuel 1:3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.
Dear Lord, grant our men and boys the heart to worship you.
1 Samuel 1:5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the LORD had shut up her womb.
Dear Lord, grant me favour before my husband. Let there be pure Love in our marriages, in Jesus name.
Prayers for you
Father, help me honour you with my all. Let nothing come between me and you Lord. May my kids, my job, my hubby, home pursuit, my all never become a hindrance to honouring you. Instead, Lord, I give them back to you; use them for your glory, in Jesus name. Amen.
Dear Jesus, I don’t want to serve in the Kingdom without actually knowing you. Reveal yourself to me. Father, show me your Word. Your Word is precious. Teach me and instruct me in your righteousness, in Jesus name.
The ark represents the Lord’s presence. Dear Jesus, let your presence never depart from my life, in Jesus name.
Prayers for your children
Dear Lord, teach our children to fear you. Let them honour you with their whole hearts. May they find favour before you, Jesus, and before men. Raise them up, Lord, and may they be found faithful sons and daughters, in Jesus name. Amen
With humility, the child Samuel didn’t rashly speaYoung Samuel showed true humility. Even with God’s call on his life and the looming judgment, he spoke respectfully to the old priest and humbled himself. Let them recognise spiritual authority and walk in wisdom.
The Bible says the child Samuel grew; the Lord was with him and He found favour before God and men. 1 Samuel 3:19
Dear Jesus, make our children grow before you. Let your presence never leave them. May they continually find favour before you and before men, in Jesus name.
Dear Lord, let the words they utter before you not fall to the ground. Let their words be pure, and their conversations be holy before you.
Jesus, just the way you revealed yourself to the boy child Samuel, reveal yourself to our children. May they be found in you, in Jesus name. Amen
Hophni and Phinehas brought destruction not just on themselves, but on their family and the entire nation. Eli’s neglect led to the loss of 30,000 soldiers in Israel. Through my decisions and indecisions, have mercy on me and show me quickly where I have failed, Lord; let my children never bring shame to my face. May they be children of great honour. Put your word in the heart of my children, in Jesus name.
Lord, every time I hear a report about my kids, may it be good news, testimony and goodness worth celebrating, in Jesus name. May my children never be a source of sorrow to my family or me. Lord, make them a channel of blessings, in Jesus name. Amen.
