Invitation To Wholeness

Bible Readings: Matthew 9:20, Luke 8:43

Do you want to be whole again?

I presume you want it just like I do.

I want to be whole in my heart, in my body, in my soul.

I want Jesus to heal every broken, sick, withered, dying, unresponsive part of my body, mind, and life.

Sometimes ‘Wholeness’ takes long in fact way too long than you think.

If you have ever being in a situation that seems like forever, then you will come close to understanding what this woman went through.

Sometimes you lose everything searching for whole.

Sometimes you push through the crowd, the distractions, the noise searching for whole

The woman with the issue of blood was she called…The condition had overtaken her name.

Do you know she is still here….

She is the woman with the issue of fibroid

She is the woman with the issue of infertility

She is the woman with the issue of failed marriage

She is the woman with a terminal sickness.

She is the woman with mental issues

She is the woman who suffers depression

She is the woman with _____________

She is me

She is you

All we need do is fill the gap.

You know every story we read about in the Bible weaves threads that touch our lives. One way or another we see ourselves written in the lives we read about.

She came behind him.

Why?

Maybe she was not bold enough to come face to face.

Maybe she was too embarrassed about her situation.

Or was she unsure of what His reactions would be?

Sneaking from behind would make perfect sense, right?

Guess what?

No matter what angle we choose to approach Jesus, He sees us…

Whether you are the woman who is so ashamed of your situation,

or you are too shy and tremble to your bone,

or you feel inadequate to approach his presence,

Jesus sees you…

I love that!

One scripture of encouragement for you who is ashamed or too shy or too doubtful to draw near,

Then she reaches out and touches the helm of his garment.

He turned…depending on whose account you read. Jesus asks ‘who touched me’. After the drama, she owns up.

He called her ‘daughter’.

In that is another invitation.

Jesus had given her wholeness, now there is an invitation for a relationship!

Hold a bit friend, in a few days we will delve deeply into this invitation.

Let’s walk through her journey to wholeness. She probably heard of Jesus.

She sought Him

She thought within herself

She touched him.

Do you see how her thoughts and her actions match up?

Her thoughts and actions were in total alignment.

Her Faith grew from

Hearing –> Thoughts –> Actions

You want faith? make sure what you hear,

what you think and

what you do aligns with what your hearts believe

Do you want faith?

Then your work and walk has to agree with your heart truly believes.

What does your heart believe?

Do you believe Jesus can make you whole?

Not just in your body, but in your mind and in your soul.

Ah!

Friend, the Lord Jesus wants you to believe in Him.

That faith grows in your heart and makes you reach out to touch His helm.

Yes sometimes our heart struggles to believe. We do everything else but in unbelief….

How so? You might wonder.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Mark 9:24

This man prayed for the Lord to help his unbelief.

He had come for healing. He wanted his son to be made whole.

We could have faith enough to believe that people around us would be whole. Just as Jesus asks, Do you Believe?

The Journey To Wholeness Begins With one word ‘Believe’

What do you do when we really want to belief but doubts overtakes you?

What do you do when your heart is tossed in the tide of unbelief?

Simple:

Pray for the Lord to help when you get this cross road.

Sit and listen. Fill your heart with the Word and testimonies.

Think deeply about what you have heard.

Touch His helm. Just go for it.

Prayer

Dear Lord, teach my heart to rest in your promises, let my thoughts be filled with you and you only. Father make me a woman filled with faith. Give me the boldness to approach your presence. Bid me to draw nearer to you. Jesus make me whole in your presence. Heal every area of my life. Let my bones, my flesh, my heart, my soul find healing by the power in the Name of Jesus. Amen

  • I love the way she reached out in spite of all that should have and could have held her back as she was literally breaking the law, and yet.. God met her right in her need. He invited her into His space by calling her His own. And what an encouragement.

Thanks for sharing your perspective on this Ifeoma!
    Blessings!

  • An invitation, and how we would love to respond to an invitation to sit at His feet and receive His touch. At times we think we have “arrived,” and there is nothing more that we need – but the truth is there is always something more and we must be in a continuing receiving mode. Thank you for sharing with us here at Tell me a Story. Oh Yes, may your seminar be blessed and those who attend.

  • Thank you for these encouraging words today. We need to remember we are beautiful in God’s eyes and He loves us always. May I seek Him with my whole heart, mind and body. Blessings!

  • This is a great reminder that we can come to Him, no matter what and He will make us whole again. He has promised, He will do. Thanks for this great post!

  • All the ugly, all the “unmentionable” ills that shut us down and make us hide — so thankful that the grace and power of God are sufficient even for these.

  • Don’t you love how accounts of Jesus interacting with individuals invite us into His presence. Only then can our journey to wholeness truly begin. Thank you for this loving reminder.

  • Beautiful thoughts! The Lord has had me pondering this story, along with another woman’s story, for several weeks now. I love how God brings things together. Just follow behind and touch the hem of His garment. He wants us in His Presence so much, doesn’t He? Thank you for sharing this beautiful prayer also.
