That day, as I was chauffeured around town by a young man, our conversation became the highlight of an otherwise chaotic ride. The city buzzed with traffic jams, roadwork, and a chorus of impatient horns, yet somehow, we found joy weaving through the madness.
He opened up about his rollercoaster relationship, the weight of frustration clear in his voice. He longed to settle down, but now his would-be bride seemed to be slipping away.
“Why the hurry?”, I asked. He paused, thought for a while, and responded, I want to get married early; that’s all.
Really? I could almost feel steam rising from my head in disbelief. So I pressed on with another question…
Is there a specific target for when you want to get married?
Are you trying to win some invisible contest? Marriage should never be a rushed checkbox just because everyone else is slipping rings onto fingers.
The same applies to every area of life. We owe it to ourselves to wait until the timing feels right and we are truly prepared for the next chapter.
Why do we so often haul ourselves into the heavy burden of unnecessary pressure over almost everything?
Does it really matter if your friends tied the knot before you, or if you landed your dream job last, or even if your address is not the fanciest on the block? I get it. It worries me too, but do you notice that you’re the one getting worked up about it?
God will make all things beautiful in His own time, not your time, not your prescribed timing!
“My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute
me.”
Psalm 31:15
We set up impossible expectations for ourselves, raise the bar sky-high, and then end up with a broken limb.
Trust me, I have walked that path myself!
If your life feels like a never-ending race, here is the truth: until you step off the competitive track, you will keep running in circles.
There is a world of difference between setting achievable goals and working towards them and chasing the impossible, only to complain when life does not cooperate.
I know it stings, my friend.
The endless competition, the quiet rivalries, the habit of tracking who did what and when—it is all exhausting. Do not pour your energy into it.
I understand your desire to do better, but ask yourself: who gets to decide what better truly means?
Your Will versus God’s Will?

Our lifelong journey is shaped by the choices we make each day. God can free us from the urge to glance around the room, comparing dresses, lives, spouses, or children.
“For we dare not ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.”

Oh My!
Your life is not meant to be a frantic race, nor should it be measured by the world’s standards.

Life is not meant to be lived in a frantic rush, especially not just to win a meaningless contest.
You are free from the chains of the endless race, my friend.
“In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated
according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his
own will:”
Ephesians 1:11
God declares you are free to become all He created you to be. You are chosen, set apart. Do not hurry to chase after someone else’s path.
