Clutching the railing, I dragged myself up the stairs. Every step home felt like a mountain, my body still heavy from weeks of battling typhoid fever. Fear gripped me as exams loomed closer, yet I was far too ill to remain on campus.
My family was stretched thin with worry. My heart ached for my mum, yet I could do nothing to ease her burden. When I knocked, Grandma caught me in her arms. Tears poured down my cheeks. I had never known fear like this before.
Despite my frailty, she gently cleaned me up, then reached for her anointing oil and began to pray. Every word was a plea from the depths of her soul. When her prayers ended, my emotions overflowed, and I wept once more. She pleaded softly for me to stop crying.
Sleep claimed me, and by evening, strength returned to my fragile body. The Lord had healed me. My medications arrived only after my mum came home.
Girl, never underestimate the incredible power of prayer.
Even when we cannot see or feel it, the Lord listens. That day replays in my mind whenever I remember my grandma.
Now my grandma is late; She was never too weary or forgetful to pray.
If you have read my book, you know she taught me to pray, laying the foundation for my own prayer life. If you have not, I invite you to get a copy here.
There is so much we can offer our grandchildren. If the Lord grants us that blessing, let us cradle our little ones in prayer, guided by God’s Word.
When I call to remembrance the
unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother
Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
2 Timothy 2:5

Like Grandma Lois, Timothy’s grandmother, we are called to carry the flame of the gospel, ensuring it burns on after us. Her fire shone so brightly it sparked the same passion in her daughter, Eunice. She learned so much from her mom. That faith she had seen, the testimony and the life her mother led were a powerful instrument in her life. Eventually, her grandson became one of the renowned men of faith in his day.
As we journey in faith, our footprints mark the sands of life. Let us be mindful of the legacy we leave behind. Our children will carry on the fire of the gospel. His grandmother, Lois, was mentioned as a pillar of faith in his life, as was his mother, Eunice.
It is unwise to leave our children adrift when it comes to faith. Though the world is full of evil, we can guide their hearts by continually planting seeds of faith.
Prayer: May my grandchildren notice the sparkles of faith scattered around them and follow the path of Grace I have walked. May the Lord make our lives lighthouses in a dark world. May our children and grandchildren see our faith in action and choose to walk with the Lord.
We can’t force it on them, but we can
show them the way by teaching them about God’s Word and living it out ourselves.
As we step into grandparenthood, or if we are already there, we can do even more through persistent prayer and by living out our faith with stories to share. Are you a grandparent? How are you encouraging your grandkids in the Lord?

Ifeoma Samuel
Ministry life goes beyond showing up, pouring energy, time, and finances, and running the stage as you own it. Instead, ministry life echoes compassion, salvation, service, people, love, grace, and God. At the heart of every service, these things and more will abound.
We are fond of activities in the name of Ministry or service. We desire to reach lives for the Kingdom and bring salvation to the lost through Christ Jesus. We pour our gifts, ideas, activities, and resources into them and deploy manpower, time, energy, and such. After all is said and done, are souls won to Christ?
Will hearts come to the knowledge of the Truth of God’s Kingdom?
