An Invitation To Believe The Impossible

Bible Readings: John 11, Matthew 19:14, 14:28, Matthew 21:19-21

Captivated by seeing His Master walk on water.

Peter wanted the same.

Jesus bade him to come too.

He Believed as so He did.

Alas, Peter walked on water.

Mary had an Angelic visit.

A one-time historic experience.

Called to bear the Son of the living God.

Humanly speaking, it cannot be concieved by the mind.

Yet She believed…

Overshadowed by the Holy Spirit, the child began to form.

In Matthew 21:20, The fig tree perished at His word.

The disciples were marvelled.

Their minds wondered how it happened.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. Matthew 21:21

Friend,

God calls us to believe the impossible….

Jesus wants us to have faith

He wants us to have doubtless faith.

He calls us to impossibles.

For with God nothing shall be impossible. Luke 1:37

With God all things are possible.

He calls us to see human impossiblities as possibilities with Him.

God is not limited by time, space, and events.

Sometimes, we find believing hard to do…

We want to figure things out…

We want to prove things…

We want to explain them away...

But Jesus wants us to believe wholeheartedly…

He wants us to embrace His Word.

He wants us to say as Mary did, ‘Be it unto me according to thy word’ .

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:38

Sometimes, you say all the right things but your heart struggles to believe them.

Our discussions go one way and our hearts another.

Read John 11 more closely especially Martha responses when Jesus asked her if believed.

Jesus says to Martha, Thy brother will rise again…

Martha in vs 21-27 showed her wanting to say all the right things…the very churchious words. She was not on the same page as Jesus.

Saying the Word means nothing if you don’t believe.

Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

John 11: 39-40

Now it’s time for the miracle and Martha remembers her brother would stink by now!

Following hard after Christ means you have to believe.

Yes, even for the seemingly impossible things!

It is beyond moving the right way, saying the right things and hanging out with the right people!

Martha was doing all of that stuff…

And she utters her unbelief when the miracle was about to happen.

That’s the difference….

Can you hear me laughing?

The pressure, the melting point…is where the faith of every believer is really counts.

That’s where the true test lies.

When you are not quite sure,

or people watch on for the drama to unfold,

you have to turn your focus to God not to yourself or what people have to say

Peter’s walk on water was a powerful example.

He dreamed the impossible.

He wanted the impossible.

It happened…then he got shocked he was doing it

But?

Uhmmm, he’s faith tank went empty

He gave way to fear and stopped believing!

Ok, you want to walk on water too? Of course, I do too.

Psst, whatever happens, don’t look at the storm.

Fix your gaze on Jesus

Do you see someone believing for the nearly impossible?

How can she hold a supernatural birth?

Like Mary, the mother of Jesus, say Yes to the impossible.

It can only be through faith! In today’s invitation…Jesus invites us to believe the impossible and to dream the impossible. He invites us for a doubt-free faith. I am grateful for that!

Prayer

Lord, I thank you for an opportunity to believe…the impossible, to dream the impossible even if it includes water-walking dreams too. I believe and like Mary let it all be done according to thy word in Jesus name Amen.
