Advent Day 13: Come To Worship

“and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” Matthew 2:2

The Wise Men: we all place the little statues of them carefully around the manger. But they were not there on the night He was born.

No, they came much later. After the Shepherds had gone, after the mystery of the birth had waned, the Wise Men still were persistent to follow their charts, to trace the star, and worship the King that the star foretold.

When the crowds thin out, when my friends go the other way, will I still follow the path of the KING born that night?

It’s easy to worship Him on Christmas morning when the world seems brighter, and the glitter draws me in. It’s easy to sing the Carols when the Season of Advent calls me in.

Where will I give my Worship when the Manger Scene is packed away?

Family Activity: Send love messages to Ministers of the Gospel that have touched your life. Spend some time praying for their homes.

Prayer: Today Lord I surrender my heart to you. Dear Lord, may my worship offerings be acceptable. May they be as sweet smelling savor in Your Presence in Jesus name.

  • Thank you Bettie! Recently I was in a remote location, away from the city lights, and the brilliance of the stars, and the sheer number, was staggering. The Wise Men knew to look up, that God was trying to communicate with them. In our culture, we look down at our devices, and we don’t even suspect that God might have a Word of Wisdom to give us. We don’t even think it is possible. My Nativity set didn’t even make it out of the box this year. And I am carelessly careening into Christmas, with little thought of God humbling Himself to become a child to save us. I am convicted that the Wise still seek Him. I want to be in that number, but get called away too often. Thank you for this reminder to look up. With expectation.

  • “Where will I give my Worship when the Manger Scene is packed away?” — Such a thoughtful question, Bettie. Thank you for giving us reason to think beyond the season. May we worship Him all year long, for He is worthy. — Hope your household is enjoying a beautiful Christmas season. 🙂 ((hug))

  • Thank you for challenging us to think about whether I will still worship when the manger scene is put away. I also am asking myself what worship will look like throughout the year. We shouldn’t need a specific reason to praise and thank God!

  • Oh Ifeoma, thank you so much for following God’s leading with this series, and even with the order of the postings. I needed to hear these words again, and this prayer so much today. Only HE could have known that, and sent His own convictions to me to keep pressing forward in my Worship of Him. Hugs and Love to you!

    • Thank you so much Bettie.
