The Gift Of Rest in Chaotic World

The usual morning rush. Packing back packs, preparing breakfast, school drop-offs, errands, getting ready for business/work day, never ending chores etc.

Day in Day out. Same routine. Non-stop parenting tasks. Tearing off completed to-do lists. Pieces and scraps. Messes to clean up. Birthdays to plan. Events to attend.

Not to mention your personal goals, career, dreams as a mom etc. Or fear and panic from headlines, terrorism, earthquakes among the evils that abound threaten our day to day living.

We are Busy Moms. We are in a constant hurry. The world is going faster and ever changing than we know it. Guess What? It’s not waiting for either of us! It seems like an endless pursuit to catch up with every bit going on.

Oh girl! This is a busy chaotic life?

How can we find Rest in a world filled with ever streaming news headlines, social media, family, health, kids, work, home life etc. everything screaming for your attention?

After a long night of praying and thanksgiving, I laid down as peace flooded my soul.

For every challenge we face, worry wasn’t going to solve a thing. I acknowledge it is a lame attempt to get your life tamed in the way I deem fit.

A weary soul needs a solace.

The hungry have got to be filled.

The thirsty throat needs refreshing.

Sister, your soul needs rest.

Have you discovered the Power of Praise and Thanksgiving in the midst of the storm?

Have you found rest in this present chaos?

Good News is we can find Peace in the Storm.

The world pushes its ideas. It tricks us to believe speed equals achievement.

It beguiles our heart to keep working, chasing, tiring our minds, wearying our souls, detaching us from peace and contentment.

The world says more is better.

It says faster is productive.

It says speed is progress.

But with God Rest, Patience, Contentment are rewarding virtues

Instead, we rush become impatient in queues at the bus-station, restaurant, hospital, everywhere and anywhere we are meant to wait.

We have become too eager, anxious, harassed, always competing, discontent … isn’t it a confused mind state?

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

Friend, we can choose rest for our souls.

Yes, REST.

When you choose rest, you appreciate the blessing in quietude.

Rest for your soul ushers peace.

Jesus understands the labor we bear,

Jesus knows the weight of the burden you carry.

He wants to bear your burden for you.

He wants to carry your yoke.

Whether or not you are in the eye of the storm, your heart needs Peace. Peace is the assurance that God is too faithful to fail. Philippians 4 is such a sweet reminder.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4: 6-7

Nothing changes when we hurry through life. We can’t afford to live in worry and anxiety. It is too expensive. I can’t begin to imagine a life devoid of peace.

Sister, You have the Gift of Rest. Jesus has given you this beautiful invitation.

Regardless of tough health, marital, family, financial or economic pressures, Jesus calls us to come. Everyone of us who is tired of carrying the weight.

Isn’t it easier to have someone carry this burden you carry around?

Isn’t such a wonderful thing to come to Jesus?

Would you accept this wonderful Gift of Rest for your soul?
