You cannot surrender to whom and what you don’t know.
We hear surrender a lot around our faith but what does it mean to live a surrendered life, who do we surrender to and how do we surrender. In the first part of the Yielded Life Bible Study we discussed “The Surrendered Life“, in the second part we saw it is “Not My Will” we should run after but God’s Will.
Here we continue with what God’s will is for our lives and How to do it.
As believers, we surrender to the living God. Doing so means we are fully ready to follow His Will for our lives. While the will of the enemy is to steal, kill and destroy, our Heavenly Father has holds of promises for our lives. These hidden treasures require us to seek them.
What is God’s Will for my life?
Many believers including myself ask this question. Truth is God can reveal His Will for your life to you. His Will for your life remains a secret until you seek. But God is the revealer of secrets Psalm 25:14
Bible Readings: Acts 22:14, Ephesians 1:9 and Colossians 1:9
Now you see that God can show it to you, next is how do you seek it out. The secret things belong to those that fear the Lord. Through prayer, fasting and the Word, God will speak to your heart. The Word is powerful it not only guides our prayer, it speaks life to us.
God’s Word is able to transform us by giving our hearts wisdom. It is able to make pure a sin-soaked person. The Word of God digs up secret sins of my heart and washes me with the water from the Word. Oh how I love the Lord!
You see, every verse of the scripture is linked one to another, as a hungry soul takes it in, it will want more and more of the pure undiluted word. Amen
There it is the Word holds the secret that you seek.
It is important for every believer to know His Will for their lives. Jesus knew what He had come to do and He lived His life conscious of it. He lived intentionally because He understood what God’s Will was.
It is my prayer that we be filled with the knowledge of His will and that we walk according to His will and not that of the enemy. There is grace available to us when we do His Will.
God is moving us to perfection. Our perfection is rooted in God’s Will not in our works (Hebrews 13:21).
How to do God’s Will?
You can’t do God’s Will without a life of total surrender. And you can’t surrender to His will on your own.
When you hear some say, “I want to do God’s will but I keep failing at it” or “I can’t seem to surrender”, don’t blame them. I can’t remember how many times I have been on that cross road. It feels frustrating to try and try and never hit the target.
But some years ago I stumbled on a verse that changed my life and my perspective. It was Philippians 2:13.
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure”
For emphasis see what the NLT version says,
“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him”
Yeah, sister, I was running around thinking I had to do it but here God says something entirely different.
God works in you to will– That is He puts in your heart the desire to want to do His Will
God works in you to do His good pleasure– It is God that gives you everything including strength to perform that which pleases Him.
Go on and breathe, friend.
God is the One who helps in through and through to do His Will. He never sends you where He isn’t going. He goes all the way with you on this journey, cheer up.
The yielded life lives according to His will
The yielded heart surrenders to God’s Will
The yielded heart trusts God’s Will
The yielded heart knows God is working in it and through it. All we have to do is to rely on Him to fulfill His will for us while will live a life of total surrender.
Reflection: Now you have seen how to know what that will is, are you ready to seek God’s Will for your life?
Are you ready to yield your life for His purpose?
Prayer: Lord, bring me to the knowledge of your will. Open my heart to receive of your will for my life. Teach me to do your will Psalm 143:10. It takes you alone to live a surrendered life, Holy Spirit come into my life and help me. Turn my stony heart into a heart of flesh Ezekiel 36:26. I am willing and ready Lord, make my life on fire for you Lord in Jesus name.
