Hope For The Bruised Reed

I invited her into my room.

For one who was close to my heart we have shared fond memories, times and places together. But distance and time had separated us. Our laughter was long and loud. A sudden break by sadness.

Deep grief swept over my soul. I wish I had been there.

The word ‘rape’ was all it took to change the  ambience of the room.

I know Tamar!

May be she is you…

Did it happened to you too?

Or may be it is the other kind of rape,

Have you have been emotionally raped?

May be your dreams were forcefully taken away,

And now you have concealed it for the unbearable shame.

Your story is not like this one.

Firstly, I may never come to understand your own story.

And second, no two situations are the same.

I know you hate to go there, I do too.

But our hearts have been bruised.

Whether it is you or someone you know,

if it happens to one it bruises all our sister-hearts.

I don’t know how your story went.

Honestly, I can’t handle the details.

I will cry all the way through your story.

Only you can tell how difficult it is picking up the shattered pieces.

You know the struggle with acceptance and forgiveness.

Sometimes, the pieces sheers through your fingers and the pain burns over again.

For every tears and pain you have felt…you are not alone

But I want to walk hand in hand with you,

I want to connect heart to heart,

I want us to kneel together before the cross

We will tell Him the wrong and how much we hurt.

We would pour our tears,

We would lay our burdens,

We would take on forgiveness,

We would wear our princess garments of wholeness,

We would embrace the courage to get up hope-filled.

One Word of Hope from the scriputre for you (2 Corinthians 4:8-10)

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;  Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10

Nothing life throws at us can be comapred to the glory that awaits us.

Absolutely, nothing can be exchanged for the eternal blessings.

There is living hope in the Well.

There is life from the Fountain of living Waters.

As we drink, Jesus will make our hearts whole.

He will bind our broken hearts.

Jesus will heal us.

He will take every shame and wear on us beautiful dresses fit.

The mess will He, mould into a stunning piece, woven delicately for Glory.

We will laugh because our captivity has been turned around.

PS: This piece is dedicated to every woman who has been there! I pray you find hope.

Indeed, Jesus will heal those scars and wounds, Ifeoma. What a beautiful and creative way of reminding us of Christ’s comforting power in our sorrows through the life of Tamar. I just went through a study of 2 Samuel this past year, so this really hits home for me.

  • There is such raw beauty in your words today. Very powerful. Thank you for reaching out to all with hurting hearts and speaking love and truth into their hearts.

  • All of us have some bruising in our life, although it might not be from physical rape, we can suffer emotional rape as well.
Thank you for your encouraging words to remind us that God is there even in the hurt and pain of suffering.

  • This has been on my mind recently too, and my heart understands. I have experienced things not yet shared but pray God holds the ones who have. Thanks friend, people need to know they are not alone.

  • Ifeoma, this is beautiful. <3
May God bring healing to the hurting through your words.

  • So very thankful for the compassion of Christ and for these encouraging words. I pray they speak life and healing to your readers through the power of Christ.

I remember shortly after my first husband left me, the Lord led me to read Isaiah 42:3 “A bruised reed He will not break And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish;” It was such a comfort to me. I’m not sure that bruised reeds ever completely become as whole as they were before, but I am happy to know that I am worth much to my Savior. Just because someone important in my life turns their back and walks away forever does not mean that God will do the same. He heals, He re-lights the fire, and He never leaves us nor forsakes us.

  • Thanks, Ifeoma. This is beautiful. We can’t fully understand one another”s stories but we can walk together and encourage one another in God’s power to restore and heal our broken hearts.

  • Had this thought on my mind lately. A bruised reed God will never ever break. There is so much love, compassion, and genuinity in your words.
