Advent Day 9: The Grace Giver

“For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17

We see the Baby in the manger. We watch the story unfold as the Angels sing, and
the Shepherds rejoice. We look with wonder at the Wise Men traveling so great a
distance to worship the King.

Yet even when we are filled with wonder over the miracle that came to be, do we
look deeper to see the true gift that the Father gave?

The world was changed when Grace and Truth stepped into our humanity.

Where once we knew only laws and punishment, with just a longing for forgiveness, Grace opened the way for full freedom.

Where once we knew only truth from a distance, this Baby came to bring Truth into our hearts.

Is there an opening in my heart to know the Truth?

Is there a searching in my heart to find His Grace?

Family Activity: Say a prayer for your neighbors and co-workers. Ask the Lord to lead them to the Truth in the Word. Pray that this season be an opportunity for God’s love to spread in your community.

Prayer: You are the giver of Grace and Truth. Teach me your ways, guide me in your truth and pour your grace over my soul in Jesus name. Amen
