It is time to B-R-E-A-T-H-E (Day 4)

I am glad to introduce us to this new series of devotionals yet again don’t you just love it?
Do you need to find space in your life to rest, breathe and refuel? Then you will love this one. I very excited to write this series with my friends.

BREATHE is an acronym but we will unwrap each word just like a treasure hunt.
Today’s Word is A and it stands for Affirm God’s Words

Affirm God’s Words by Stephane Singlatary

There is therefore now no condemnation to
them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit. Romans 8:1
As I was
preparing this post, and praying and pondering over what it means to affirm the
Word of God in our lives, I was taken back to these symbols of war in our
American history.
Which led me to the question, “Why do we want
to keep fighting a war that has already been won?” Then it hit me- aren’t we
doing the same thing every day? We all know the history so why are trying to
fight a war that was won 200 years ago, or better yet, one that was won 2000
years ago?
want you to do me a favor. I want you to take a minute and write down three
words on a piece of paper- or whatever you have at hand. I want you to write

(Go ahead, I will wait.)
Now, read these words you have just
written and think about what they mean to you as we dive into the Word of God
 “I AM

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the
flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for
pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that
exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into
captivity to the obedience of Christ,”   2
Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV

Every day we are faced with this same battle,

Every day our flesh battles against the Spirit of God in us.

Every day we are faced with guilt, shame, fear, doubt, worry and

Every day many of us are faced with a darkness that seems endless.
I have been faced with a great darkness in my
life, and if you are going through something like this right now, I want to
tell you that God has never let go of you, and He never will. You are not
alone. I know- I have been there.
of the darkest times in my life was when I walked into the room of my mother
and saw her lifeless body lying on the bed. She had left to go home to Jesus in
the middle of the night, and the first words that came into my head were ones
of guilt and shame, accusing me of doing something to cause this. These words
shrouded me in darkness so thick that I did not think I would ever get through
it. This darkness was deep and lasted for months.
Day after day
I was faced with guilt, shame, fear, worry, doubt, and no matter what I did,
what I prayed, or how often I pleaded with the Lord to take this darkness away,
to forgive me, it was there, like a fog that hung heavy over my life.
the words of Paul give us great hope. You see, Paul tells us that these
strongholds of darkness, of guilt, shame, and fear are nothing against us
because they have been defeated. Our weapons needed to fight these battles of
darkness are not anything we can do.
They are “not
carnal, but mighty in God”. Our weapons are spiritual; it is the truth of what
Christ has already done. Notice at the end of verse 5, Paul tells us that we
need to bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ”.

weapon is the truth that through His obedience on the cross, we are forgiven.
No guilt, no shame, no fear, nothing
can every separate us from this truth that we have in Christ Jesus-
Our forgiveness is not dependent on
our obedience. Our forgiveness is dependent upon the obedience of Christ.
the words of Keith Getty, who wrote “In Christ Alone”, there is “no guilt in
life, no fear in death, this is the power of Christ in me.” There is no guilt
left for us to hold onto because He took it all and nailed it to His cross.
There is no fear for us to fear because He
conquered the grave!
You are forgiven, not because of what you have
done, but because of what Christ has done.
Affirm this truth in your life right
now. Proclaim to all those feelings of guilt and shame, fear and doubt that you
are His and He has won this battle. Tear down those strongholds with the
weapon of this truth,

is no guilt, no shame, and no fear because Christ was obedient, even to the
point of death on the cross. (Philippians 2:8) Your forgiveness is not dependent
upon you but is solely dependent upon the obedience of Christ. All these
strongholds that have overtaken us are pulled down with this truth,

When guilt starts to rise, speak and
affirm this truth- you are forgiven. When doubt and fear start to cloud your faith,
speak the truth of God over it- you are forgiven. There is no power that can
ever bring you into bondage again if you can grasp a hold of these three words.

the battle begins to rage and the darkness tries to rise again, remember that
this war has been won. The obedience of your Risen Savior has defeated all its
foes and nothing and no one has any power over you again. You are forgiven.
Don’t let the enemy pull you into a war that
has already been won.
Affirm God’s Word today- I AM FORGIVEN.
Say it with me, “I AM FORGIVEN!”
Can I get an “Amen”?

Prayer Prompt

Father God, I pray for any woman who
is reading these words today. I pray that you would free her from the bonds of
guilt and shame, and that she would see the powerful weapon she has to bring
down all these strongholds in her life. She is forgiven.

We are forgiven, not because
of our obedience, but because of the obedience of Jesus Christ. I pray that
women would shake off the chains of guilt and shame and affirm and proclaim
today, and every day these three words,

All the glory and
honor and praise be to Jesus Christ our Lord, forever and ever, amen.
