A giver’s heart

Not many people give. In fact, many Christians
struggle in the area of giving. As the season of giving approaches, it is wise
we take quick look at giving. There are a number of people in the Bible who
offered wholeheartedly unto God. This group of people understood the mystery of
“sowing and reaping”.
10 Amazing Biblical Secrets of
Givers give with love and
compassion. If you give without love, it is nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body
to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.                                                                         1Corinthians 13:3
They don’t give grudgingly.
Every man
according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth
a cheerful giver.

Givers don’t care to impress, they give
to address a need.
And kept
back part of the price, his
wife also being privy to it,
and brought a certain part, and laid it
at the apostles’ feet.
Acts 5:2
 Herod for
another example, made a promise to give because he had people to impress.
And the
king was exceeding sorry; yet
for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not
reject her.
Mark 6:26
Givers allow the Holy Spirit lead
them in their decisions.
Give not
that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
Most givers give in secret but get
rewarded openly.
But when
thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That
thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall
reward thee openly.
 Matthew 6:3-4

A giver knows he will receive.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good
measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give
into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be
measured to you again.                                                                                         Luke 6:38

giver knows “it is more blessed to give than to receive”.
I have shewed you all things, how that so
labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord
Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
A giver
understands the mystery of extending his helping hand to his enemies.
if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing
thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

Giving is a testimony of your Christian
What doth
it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not
works? can faith save him?  If a brother
or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in
peace, be ye warmed and filled;
notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body;
what doth it profit?  Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead,
being alone.
James 2:14-17

If you have the heart of giving,
God blesses the work of your hands.
If there be among you a poor man of one of
thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth
thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor
brother:   But thou shalt open thine hand
wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
Deuteronomy 15:7-8
Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart
shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the
LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest
thine hand unto.
